Juan-Antonio has pursued a global career, having lived and worked in 3 continents. He has driven tangible results across the technology-business boundary, resulting in numerous patent filings, revenue-generating product designs, first-time partnership programs, and roadmap initiatives. A well known personality in the chip design community, Juan-Antonio has appeared and written regularly in technology and business publications. He has been an active leader in various semiconductor industry committees, including the first quantified chip design industry roadmap, and has written a book on chip design, "Chip Design for Non-Designers: An Introduction".

As IBM's Venture Capital Partner focused on semiconductors, hardware, and China, he has created and run several first-time VC partnership initiatives around IBM's open platforms, such as blade servers and the Power architecture, and helped dozens of companies succeed at their early stage in partnership with IBM. Having impacted hundreds of millions in venture investment and product revenue, he was named number one "Top 40 Under 40" by American Venture Magazine in 2006. Juan-Antonio previously lead IBM's efforts in adaptive communications research, impacting 3 product generations and numerous patents. His background also includes stays at DEC, LSI Logic, Accenture, Carnegie Mellon, and Electricite de France.

A technologist since creating his first software 20 years ago, Juan-Antonio holds a Ph.D. in E.E. from the University of Michigan, an M.B.A. from the CDI (Paris), and an M.Sc. In Telecommunications from UPM (Madrid). He is proficient in 5 world languages and 10 software languages.
